3D Haunted Roller Coaster

Learn how to assemble this spine-chilling, new carnival ride!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pieces of this 3D haunted roller coaster.Note: If you are using the SVG files that includes the score lines, don't forget to set them as such in Cricut Design Space and attach them to their shapes before sending them through your cutting machine. I used a lime green color to mark the score lines, so hopefully that helps! If you're having trouble with the score lines, check out this video.
  • Start by attaching the two solid base pieces together. Then, glue the curvy side pieces to the tabs on the base. The two matching taller ones will go in the back, and the shorter ones will attach to the front. Then, curve the rectangular-shaped side pieces around the ends—attaching them to the little tabs on the base.

  • Next, take the two curved track pieces and attach them to the top of the curved sides.Note: It will take some time to attach each of the little tabs and ensure that the track keeps its shape, so be patient.Take the four straight track pieces. Match up the ones that are identical in length and glue them together by overlapping one of the tracks.Attach the longer track to the back portion of the roller coaster and the shorter one to the front.

It has been quite some time since I’ve created a carnival-themed project! I’ve always wanted to add a roller coaster to the mix, but I wasn’t sure if it would be structurally feasible.

When I initially set out to create this design, I wanted to include a loop and a much more complicated track layout. But I worried that it might not hold up very well in practice (not to mention, the math for the track layout was making my brain hurt). So, I went back to the drawing board and came up with a simpler, but more structurally sound design!

I use Adobe Illustrator for all my designs, and a Cricut Maker to bring my creations to life. For tips on creating fun paper cuts like this one, see the FAQ section on my website. Also, be sure to check out the other fun freebies available on my blog!

Enjoy making this fun, 3D haunted roller coaster! I’m excited to see your results, so be sure to share them with me by either tagging me on Instagram or by sharing your work in my Facebook Group.
